Having worked freelance in the Bay Area for the past four years, Micah Omaits has found consistent work in designing and building one-off projects that combine materials, build processes, user constraints and all while designing for longevity and a high quality aesthetic. A life-long lover of science fiction, Micah now designs and builds aerospace models for public display and steampunk sculptures for miniature golf courses.
With his mind always pouring out through a sketchbook, Micah discovered the Rhinoceros 3D modeling program in 2004. There, his love of design, engineering and obsession with precision found a new outlet that led to him becoming extremely proficient in all manner of CAD design processes. Originally intending to be a concept artist, he pursued Industrial Design at AAU in San Francisco. While in school he worked on numerous projects from grounded and practical (2020 era parking meter) to imaginative (transforming Kayak/Tent) and futuristic (IoT-based Forestry Service monitoring network.)
Since graduation, Micah has found his specialty in creating practical solutions to design problems. Happy to own the entire design process, he works with clients to understand goals, problems, and constraints to make never-before-seen experiences for corporations and the public.
